RoHS and REACH Compliance Fotofab is able to produce both RoHS and REACH compliant parts upon request.
Raw Metal Parts: Fotofab LLC is a chemical milling company that does not melt or produce any of the materials it uses. The chemical milling process starts with sheets of metal that are purchased from suppliers or supplied by customers. Parts are then produced by selectively dissolving metal from the raw metal sheets utilizing a series of processes. The chemical composition of the raw metal sheets is not changed by the chemical milling process, nor are these sheets knowingly exposed to any of the substances listed under RoHS directive or Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern. Our raw sheet metal vendors have determined that the products sold to Fotofab LLC do not exceed allowed levels of substances listed under RoHS directive and do not contain any significant amount of substances on the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern. Therefore Management concludes that parts produced by Fotofab LLC are compliant with European Directive 2011/65/EU also known as RoHS2 and do not contain any Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern for Authorization published in accordance with Article 59(10) of REACH regulation.
Metal Parts with Additional Plating or Soldering: If parts supplied by Fotofab LLC require secondary operations as specified on the blueprints, then Management cannot provide a generic statement of RoHS Compliancy. Sometimes the blueprint requirements include plating, soldering or other operations that are not RoHS compliant. If RoHS and/or REACH compliancy is required per customer print or purchase order Management take every precaution to follow those requirements. Management supply compliancy statement letters specific to the parts after conforming certificates from secondary operations.
Updates to Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern: European Chemical Agency frequently updates the list by adding new substances. Management continuously monitors the list and whenever there is an addition will review our chemical milling process chemistries and also ask our raw metal vendors to review the new additions. This is a lengthy process that requires multiple inputs. Please allow Fotofab 90 days to review new updates to REACH Candidate List.
